GP Chaos

We have an increasingly desperate issue about the Dulwich Medical Centre failing its patients:
But we also have the same problem at the Melbourne Grove GP:
Have you been affected?
We really need residents to formally complain. Many have they told me but nothing changes.

You are right, the situation at Dulwich Medical Centre is desperate. I have today, listened to the You & Yours discussion about GP service on Radio 4 and realised that what we have come to accept as normal at DMC is simply not acceptable.

Appointments are being offered for 3 weeks time. The alternative is to call at 8am every day – it is impossible to get through. After doing this 4 days in a row last week, redialling over 100 times before finally getting through to the phone queue, then eventually being told that there are no appointments, I finally queued from 7.30am, waiting with about 20 others until the doors opened at 8am. A this point at least 15 people were given appointments for the day. How is this effective? What about those who are too ill to stand outside for half an hour?

Having finally got my appointment I saw the most disinterested GP. He is new to the practice, not listed on the website, didn’t introduce himself, didn’t listen and was completely disinterested. His answer to everything was “well what do you want to happen?”! Or if the problem gets worse go to A&E. Utterly ridiculous.

The ratio of patients to GPs seems completely unmanageable.
