A full public consultation will start during October for a new Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) around Grove Vale and documents will be distributed to al 1,159 homes and businesses.
I’ve asked for the consultation to be amended so that respondents have to give a name and address to reduce the chances of the survey be thrown by any one tempted to try submitting dodgy replies. It will also now include an option for the zone to only operate 10-noon Mon-Fri. I had asked or 11-noon but 2 hours would be better than 10 hours!
The consultation will start in October with a November deadline. A report will be produced to be reviewed by the Camberwell and Dulwich Community Councils and the Cabinet Coouncillor for Transport will then decide whether and what to proceed with around February time with any implementation taking place during March 2012 IF it is decided to proceed.
The roads being consulted in East Dulwich ward are Melbourne Grove (between Grove Vale and East Dulwich Grove), Derwent Grove, Elsie Road, Tintagel Crescent, Zenoria Street and Oxonian Street. In South Camberwell ward – St.Francis Road, Copleston Road, Ondine Road and East Dulwich Road.
Nearly ten years ago a previous consultation took place but since then the Central Congestion Charge Zone has happened, a property boom, railfares rising steeply for years all making it attractive to drive to East Dulwich station and minimise the rail journey into town.
43 people have contacted council officers asking for a CPZ mostly from Derwent Grove, St.Francis Road and East Dulwich Road. On the doorstep many people have raised the issue with me and my East Dulwich ward colleagues Cllr Rosie Shimell and Cllr Jonathan Mitchell.
A ‘parking beat survey’ has been completed highlighting huge pressures from proven commuter parking.
What do you think?
Hello James
I live in Oglander Road and will clearly be affected by the proposals. I strongly feel that we should be included within the Southwark consultation. How is the best way to make sure that we are included and our views taken into account?
Many thanks
Jane
