The latest news is that a consultation – officially via a ‘trigger template’ – has been issued to withdraw all blood testing from Dulwich Hospital and midwifery services.
I’m trying to get a copy of these ‘templates’ to find out what exactly is proposed.
What will happen to these services, especially the midwifery services if they are withdrawn from DCH?
Hi Amanda,
I presume the services are officially transferred into other existing services operated out of Kings College hospital certainly the employees should be offered TUPE ie. their jobs transferred under the same terms and conditions. But I’d guess they joined these smaller units to avoid becoming small cogs in such big machines.
For the blood testing Dulwich Hospital offers a turn up and go service – sometimes that involves a wait usually not. The alternative appears to be booking an appointment with a nurse at a GP practice. The nature of my work is that I get sudden last minute work commitments and Dulwich Hospital is fab for allowing me to get a blood test without having to book, cancel and rebook blood tests.
The midwifery service. Making East Dulwich pregnant women traipse over to Kings College hospital is a real retrograde step.
