176 bus announcements

I’ve asked Transport for London to ‘fix’ the 176 bus announcements for the Dulwich Library. The announcements state Dulwich Plough. No.40 and 12 bus routes state Dulwich Library on the front of the bus. The no.40 announcement states Dulwich Library and then immediately Dulwich Plough.
TfL really need to get themselves sorted out and change these announcements to avoid confusion. It wouldn’t be a problem except the Dulwich Plough pub has had several names in the last few years.

Dulwich Library isn’t moving, closing, is well known and on A-Z maps. It really is an obvious landmark to use.

WAKE UP TfL. Get your act together.

I don’t understand this monomaniacal anti-pub nonsense. The Plough junction has been known as that for longer than most residents have been here and follows a grand tradition of nomenclature. That is why, despite descending into Harvesterdom, the Grove still lends its name to what would otherwise be the A205/Lordship Lane junction.

On the matter of which, there is something that a councillor with time on its hands could find itself usefully doing. And that is asking TfL not about the noises on buses but why they’ve stolen the pedestrian phase at the Grove junction. The theft severely limits access to Cox’s Walk, and, although they’ve put it on a map and a list and promised to produce a report on a framework for prioritizing signalised junctions without pedestrian phases which are due for modernisation, such as the Grove junction, they have missed their Spring deadline by, so far, six months.

Obviously, it’s important to prevent the visually impaired from trying to borrow books from pubs, but I’d reckon they’d thank you more if you could help them take a walk in the woods without being killed on the way.

I’m afraid the junction of A205 with Lordship Lane is in College ward is on a red route controlled by Transport for London.
The TfL traffic lights team have a huge backlog. For whatever inexplicable reasons, TfL have never chosen to manage this
backlog down. In fact over the last 10 years it has increased from 6 to 12 months. Shame we don’t have competition around
    this type of work.

If this junction was controlled by Southwark Council and if we were able to use a suitably qualified organisation of our choice
    it would have pedestrian phase/s.

I have read the view of the Liberal Democrat councillor. Does he not understand that there are few who will trust those of that political party again?
His views are not required – people can think for themselves.
I love the 176 – I travel very often from Champion Park to Charring + Road and stops between at all times of day and night.
Memories and happiness abound on that bus with its rich variety of life. (Yes, real life – unlike the future of Liberal Democrats)
The 176 is the best bus in London and I love it!
Will other lovers please say so too!

Felix adds: I have no political agenda and belong to no party. (I sometimes vote – not usually for the same party)
there are more important things in life than politics – let’s have a 176 website!

    Hi Felix,
If you ever get arond to creating a website about life on 176 buses please do let me know.
