Labour Southwark set up a Democracy Commission. It is meant to be making recommendations about changes to Community Councils to save £344,000 pa. It’s had lots of input to this ‘consultation’.

But its now reported that Labour Cllr Seaton at the recent meeting of the Walworth Society stated that following discussions within the Labour group Walworth Community Council would be merging with Borough and Bankside Community Council. 

So having seen the Democracy Commission spend six months working cross-party on these issues, listening to residents and attempting to balance local democracy with the need to make some financial savings, itis deeply concerning to hear of this statement.

This consultation, what is it good for, absolutely nothing….it would appear unr Southwark Labour.
