Short listed

Earlier this week, much to my shock and surprise, I was told I’d been shortlisted for Online councillor of the year. I get to find out if I’ve won 8 February.

Sorry to say this isn’t in recognition of my scintillating blogging, witty twittering or beautiful Facebook work.

Apparently my efforts to engage residents as an East Dulwich ward councillor via the East Dulwich Forum and take my lead from them and listening and then responding trying to help solve problems is considered unique.

The Network Neighbourhood people have produced a report that suggests large positive increase in East Dulwich Forum users attitudes to elected officials as a result of all the work I’ve done with forumites since September 2009. So far 1,350 posts and 41,500 readers. I always hate seeing myself on video but if you can stand it – video.

So firstly a huge thanks to the East Dulwich Forum community for the opportunity to help make things and lives better in our community via their input and feedback – it has been bumpy sometimes and I’m sure will be going forward but its really helped keep my feet on the ground.

Secondly a huge thanks to the dedicated band of residents who actually run the forum. What a great community spirit they’ve made possible.

Thirdly, to my family who put up with no end of disruption in support my councillor work.

I’d obvious like to win but truly feel chuffed to bits and honoured to even be considered.
